The tenets of a democratic, diverse, plural, economically varied and geographically vast India have to include freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of speech and freedom to decide what different individuals in this plural society want to and not want to see, hear or think.  This is fundamental to being a plural democracy.  Any Orwellian move to disallow this freedom will always be considered retrograde and India has proven time and again that national acts in this direction have consistently failed.

India’s Right To Information Act can be extended to saying every person in India must not only have access to mass media, but must be able to see what he or she wants to.
