Anil Lale

Anil Lale is a senior media-tech legal leader with over two decades of cross-jurisdiction experience, currently heading legal operations for JioHotstar, Sports, Studios, Intellectual Property, Corporate Affairs and Anti-Piracy at JioStar India Private Limited.

Recognised in the 2024 GC Powerlist and the General Counsels Hall of Fame for transformative leadership, Anil has steered legal strategy for some of India’s most inf influential media brands, including JioStar, Viacom18, Zee Entertainment and Zee News. His expertise spans broadcasting, OTT, sports, music, live entertainment, and consumer products, with a proven track record in enabling business growth, safeguarding creative assets, and shaping industry regulation.

At JioStar, Anil leads a high-performing legal team managing a global portfolio of content and sports properties. He has driven large-scale rights negotiations and led anti-piracy actions that have achieved industry-leading enforcement results. His leadership extends to AI governance, data protection, content standards, and compliance, reflecting a forward-looking approach to emerging technology and regulation.

A long-standing participant in industry policy dialogues through bodies such as IBDF, FICCI, and IAMAI, Anil brings a deep understanding of content regulation, strategic litigation, and self-regulatory frameworks. As a member of the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council and the DMCRC, he applies his experience to balancing creative freedom with responsible content governance.

Anil holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Media Laws from NALSAR University and a B.A.L., LL.B. from Kerala University, along with a WIPO certification in Intellectual Property Laws.
